Mesalla: Activists in
Iraq
The story of LaOnf - the Iraqi peace and non-violence
movement |
|
The Interfaith Alliance – Long Island Chapter
met on Thursday, October 23, to view the DVD Mesalla:
Activists in Iraq. This DVD tells the story of current
efforts by peace activists in Iraq. Viewers commented on the
bravery of those working in that war torn country to heal
religious and ethnic divisions. We also were glad to see what
life is like in Iraq, and noted how beautiful the people are,
and how they struggle to overcome civil strife and wish to live
in peace with their neighbors.
The Mesalla DVD tells the story of LaOnf, the Iraqi
network of civilians and civil society organizations working to
end sectarian and political violence in Iraq in order to free
the country from the U.S. occupation and bring a peaceful future
to that land. LaOnf uses the tactics and philosophy of non
violence to bring about such change.
We commend LaOnf for its valiant efforts and endorse
their actions to foster peace in their land.

founded by family members of those killed on September 11th who
have united to turn grief into action for peace by developing
and advocating nonviolent options and actions in the pursuit of
justice. Peaceful Tomorrows is currently demonstrating their
support and solidarity for the people of Iraq by supporting the
efforts of LaOnf, the Iraqi Nonviolence movement.
