Message from the Religious
Action Center of Reform Judaism following the May 17th
Faith Community Conference Call which they co-hosted
along with the United Methodist Church
- General Board of Church and Society. |

The Supreme Court has an impact on nearly all of
the issues of importance to our communities. Regardless of
whether you (or your organization) ultimately take a position on
Solicitor General Kagan’s confirmation, we encourage you to be
involved in the process of reviewing her record to determine
whether, as a Supreme Court Justice, she will protect our
fundamental values.
As Rabbi Saperstein mentioned, there are various resources
available to help you educate yourselves and your community
about Solicitor General Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court
and the judicial nominations process:
1) Read the
Alliance for Justice’s
5-page
report
on Solicitor General Kagan’s background and record.
2) Read
SCOTUSblog.com.
This increasingly indispensible site has been featuring
insightful and interesting posts on Solicitor General Kagan’s
record and the policy issues that are the focus of the debate
about her nomination.
3) Visit
www.rac.org/judnoms

- Submit questions that you want members of the Senate
Judiciary Committee will ask Solicitor General Kagan at
www.AskElenaKagan.com.
- Download a
one-page fact sheet
about the Judicial Nominations process and how you can have
an impact. Read it and use it to educate others.
- Browse the RAC’s programs on Judicial Nominations for
youth
and
adults,
which can be easily adapted for use in any community.
- Read the
RACblog
— look for the “Focus on the Court” logo, which designates
blog
posts related to the
federal judiciary.
